This work developed as a response to the formation and constant erosion of the chalk cliffs between Minnis Bay and Epple Bay on the North Kent coast. I sought to produce a work that would communicate the seeming strength of the cliffs combined with their evident fragility.
Using the techniques of drypoint, collagraph and lino etch, my work challenges the traditional ideas of editioning a print and explores repetition, variation, reversal and chance that are an intrinsic part of the printmaking process. My recent works have developed from the observations and research carried out within the local coastal landscape. My ideas have focused on the repetition and variation that are a part of the coastal phenomena, and particularly the recording and analysis of the tide times and the repetition and variation evident in the rock formations and cliffs of this section of coast.
