Harmonic Tidal Constituents is inspired by the recording and analysis of the tide times and explores the repetition, variation and reversal that are part of the tidal phenomenon and also an intrinsic part of the printmaking process.
Using the techniques of drypoint, collagraph and lino etch, my work challenges the traditional ideas of editioning a print and explores repetition, variation, reversal and chance that are an intrinsic part of the printmaking process. My recent works have developed from the observations and research carried out within the local coastal landscape. My ideas have focused on the repetition and variation that are a part of the coastal phenomena, and particularly the recording and analysis of the tide times and the repetition and variation evident in the rock formations and cliffs of this section of coast.
